(is it just me, or does the eyeball seem a tiny bit flat?)

If you are able to draw something, then draw it already!

The eye is so cool, and cat-like...for a bird/man/person/wizard. The color is beautiful.

A flat eyeball.... I guess it is a bit flat, yes. I don't know what to do to improve that though o_O; I mean I shaded the eye below the upper eyelid and put in a light reflection point, but what else can I do?

The white outline for his shoulder just doesn't work for me. Everything else has colour and it tends to stick out at you. A general rule for judging shoulder width is that it should be one head's length from the middle of the neck to the end of the shoulder. After measuring it, it's mising about one or two inches in length but nothing too critical.
The skin is just too bright. I think the nose would look a lot better if the shadow is more pronounced but it may result in a more realistic look than an anime look. It looks like you're going for realistic anyway. Simply put, I think you're using a too limited pallete for the skin tones.
The feathers... Even though you like it, I think it should have some lighter tones in it. The texture looks more like leaves rather than feathers to me

You think the shoulder is okay? I actually used the trick you told me, I heard of it very often but even when I use it I'm unsure whether it's okay. >_<;
The Skin was a annoying. Howl's quite pale and I wanted to keep it like that in the pic. That's the problem. Shading darker skin isn't as problematic as shading pale skin
The nose was once darker, but since I disliked it so much as soon as I colored/shaded it, I toned it down again because it seemed so strikingly bad to me
After writing all this, I think I just can't trust my eye. Whenever I try something of which I know it should be 'right' like darker shading or proportional rules, my eyes won't accept it. Seems like I have a loooooong way to go until my eyes get used to that
At first there were supposed to be lighter tones in the feathers, but it just didn't look that good. Even though I have quite some markers, my palette is limited and there's not really any kind of blue that would've worked here. Leaving it white was another option, but I'm not good at it and messed the first few feathers up real bad. So I just made everything blue without leaving any white and ended up liking it
To make it look more realistic, I thought about using light pencils or gouache (or whatever would've worked) to suggest the veins of the feathers. In the end I did not do that because I thought I would probably mess it up and since I liked it I felt no need to change it. It's fine with me if they look simple, I think one can guess it's feathers, and if not I'm not mad :laughing.
well, thanks again for your criticism
