The day she left the sea and set foot on the dry beach for the first time, she was stunned.
She never would have expected this foreign world which she and her people feared and which inhabitants they loathed so much, to be a place of such beauty. Even from the stories of some of the dubious tribes of her people who live closer to the surface than her own clan, she wouldn't have imagined something as gorgeous as she was looking at that moment.

The land was pulsating with colors and life, every cliff and dune with plants and creatures abound, even the air seemed alive with the salty scent of the sea and other fragrants. It was so wonderful that for a moment she simply refused to believe her senses.

The charm and apparent invitingness of this land couldn't deceive her though, she knew that she would have to face many troubles and dangers to achieve what she came here for.

This conviction wasn't to be proved wrong either, with every step she took away from the beach the world seemed stranger and more menacing.
The jagged rock under her soles felt as it had never been molded soft by the water and hurt her feet, and after a while the unusual act of having to walk longer distances at all hurt even more. On the second day her body was stung, bitten and scratched by the gorgeous plants and animals around her. Most of the food she could find and dared to eat were colorful soft things which grew on what she knew as trees. Those little things had a nice and almost too intense flavour but made her sick and drained her strength even more.
However, the worst of all was the glowing ball of light above her. It stung her eyes and skin, and made her feel like she was boiling and drying up from the inside.

All of this soon not only exhausted her physically, but also her mind. She felt she could never return home before having found her treasure on the land. The land in turn made it almost impossible for her to go on with her search, and so one day she lay at the beach, disappointed and angered by her own weakness, unable to stay on land to carry on with her search, unwilling to return home into the deep. She was even angered by the tempting little waves crawling and foaming up and down the beach and the rush of the surf which seemed like hands reaching and voices calling for her to return.
When finally she thought she'd give in to the waves' pleading and sat up, she took a last glance at something which she never paid much attention before - the air just above the sea looked like a giant mirror, reflecting the sea but with white shapes floating in it that reminded her of wave peaks. Wind streamed over her body, soothing and cooling her skin as if it was water and went on rushing higher up, shaping the soft white things far above her - and to her surprise there were creatures there that were swimming through the blue air just like fishes in water."

This isn't supposed to be lyrically impressive or something, I just wrote down thoughts that went through my head while painting this picture. So if it's cheesy... so is my brain! XD There you have it omg.
Really though, I wanted to show what Nyarai might have experienced her first few days on land as a sea-dweller by nature. I hope you enjoy it and the picture anyways, besides of this and my english that feels a bit rusty. If you actually read this long text above - that makes me happy, thank you.

The picture looks somewhat messy and unfinished in my opinion. I need to work on that.
I don't care about anatomical errors here though (like her leg), it just flowed like this from my pencil and I liked it - so I went with it instead of ruining what I like, even if it looks physically impossible ;p any other feedback is very welcome though!

Interesting. I'll never look at air, earth, and sea dwelling creatures the same again, without keeping in mind the little mermaid that wanted to swim in both worlds. (: Lovely.

wollen, etc..

Freut mich dass der Text gut ankommt, ich werd sowas wohl mal wieder machen :D wollt ich eh schon immer aber entweder hat das bild sich net geeignet dazu oder ich ha mich net getraut xD;

Danke sehr!

I'm happy it had an effect on you.
although the mermaid rather sees it as an obstacle to live on land

I just love blueish/greenish shadows. The blues in the shadowing of the skin and..dammit, I forgot the word for the yellow thing XD...give a picturesque feeling. Same for the foam in the foreground. And the "texture" of the sand dunes. The last two are kind of realistic and decorative at the same time. To be honest, I thik I like them best in this picture.
You've used another style in the hair though. I like how its all swirly and ornamentally*__* though I think it'll go better with a more clean rather than picturesque style. Argh, sorry, my head is kinda not working right today, I feel. maybe I shouldn't study so many languages :XD: sorry if I don't make sense.
I get a really..hm..breezy feeling looking at this picture and reading the text..it really makes me imagine the breeze, the sunlight and the smells of the ocean very clearly. What a nostlgic feeling in the beginnig of winter..just like the feeling of nostalgy in her..but maybe ,just maybe we'll be able to find a piece of warmth in the winter because there seems to be a piece of the ocean in the sky..( mine is a strange association, but still, i liked that last part very much)

I noticed, when switching again to small size that the swirly patterns of the hair match the movement of the clouds quite nicely. Very good touch :)
